Upcoming Golf Events In The US

By Todd Wolff

One of the joys of golf is that it's possible to travel to some amazing destinations, both at home and overseas, in order to enjoy watching the big events. Here we'll take a look at some of the tempting options for 2015. If you're thinking of putting some money on your picks for the following events, but you're not sure where to start, it's worthwhile picking a sportsbook that's been checked out, tried and tested properly; BettingSports.com has a selection of trusted companies. We'll start with the US PGA Tour.

Honda Classic
February 26th - March 1st brings the Honda Classic to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where Russell Henley will attempt to retain his 2014 title and gain a share of a $6,100,000 purse. Henley, 25, from Macon GA, burst onto the scene in 2011 and by 2013 had become one of the world's top 50 players, winning the Hawaii Sony Open ahead of South Africa's Tim Clark.

Texas Open
A month later, the action moves west for the Valero Texas Open, where Australian Steven Bowditch won last year, beating Will MacKenzie and Daniel Summerhays by a single stroke. The Oaks course, near San Antonio, is known for producing consistently low scores; in fact, every winner for the last 80 years has finished below par!

Memorial Tournament
We can't talk about the PGA Tour without mentioning the Ohio leg; Muirfield Village, Dublin OH, hosts the Memorial Tournament from June 4th to June 7th. Look out for defending champ Hideki Matsuyama, who by now should be used to the 18th hole, lengthened considerably in 2013.

US Open
Later in June there's the US Open at Chambers Bay WA to look forward to. The eight year old, par 72 course will see well over 150 players battling it out. Those expected to appear include England's Justin Rose, winner in 2013; Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland's champ from two years previously; last year's German winner, Martin Kaymer; and the US's own Webb Simpson, a native of North Carolina and champion in 2012.

Tshwane Open/
There are plenty of exciting options for those planning a proper golf-based vacation. March 12th brings four days of European Tour action to Copperleaf in South Africa for the third year of the Tshwane Open. The competition was won by England's Ross Fisher in 2014, who beat his compatriot Michael Hoey and local boy Danie van Tonder by three strokes. Prize money this time totals over $1.6 million.

Trophee Hassan II
For those in search of spring sunshine, the European Tour moves to Agadir, Morocco on 26th March, where Golf du Palais Royal will host the Trophee Hassan II. Alejandro Canizares from Spain is the holder, winning by five strokes in 2014; make sure you have time to enjoy Agadir's fantastic beaches and lively cafes while you're there!
